FAQ's

How can I hear Jubilee Hospital Radio?

Jubilee Hospital Radio is accessible only to patients in the Princess Elizabeth Hospital. Every bedside has a radio set built into the wall with a replaceable set of earphones for good hygiene.

How is Jubilee Hospital Radio funded?

As a charity, we rely wholly on donations from members of the public and generous support from some local businesses. It costs in excess of £5000 per year to keep Jubilee Hospital Radio on the airwaves, bringing the patients of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital a free and personal service straight to their bedside.

How can I make a Donation to Jubilee Hospital Radio?

Donations of music material (LP’s, EP’s or CD’s) can either be left at the Porter’s Lodge or brought directly into our studio between 7 - 9:30pm every night. Monetary donations are also gratefully received.

Can I advertise on Jubilee Hospital Radio?

As a Hospital Station, we don’t carry adverts as such. However, we can offer sponsorship opportunities through which your company name can be promoted to our listeners. This would be arranged in return for a donation to the station's funds, or prizes for us to give away on air.

What is the money used for?

All donations and raised funds go directly to the running of the station. It is used for equipping, maintaining and updating studio equipment. Although our presenters tend to bring their own music for the production of their programmes, funds are also used to purchase CD’s to ensure we keep up with patient’s listening habits.

Can I do Work Experience at Jubilee Hospital Radio?

As we are a charity operating on-air in the evening time only, we unfortunately can’t accept work experience placements. We can, however, accept anyone wishing to take part in a community service project organised by their school, as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme, or as a complementary part of any other project. We will also welcome you if you just want to sacrifice some of your free time to help us.

How much time will I have to devote?

We are enthusiastic about anyone who wishes to be a part of Jubilee Hospital Radio and we do not expect you to give a set amount of your time to the station. Our presenters have between 1 hour and 2 hour programmes and are invited to all station meetings and AGM’s. They are also encouraged to take part in fundraising activities. We accept that everyone is a volunteer and have hobbies and jobs that may take dominance so we do not expect everyone to attend at every event or function.

What would I be required to do?

We appreciate any time our volunteers devote and they can specify which activities they prefer to be involved in. These are options are subject to review by the individual when they feel necessary. Activities are Presenting, Engineering, Producing, Ward Visiting and Fundraising.
