Jubilee Hospital Radio was formed in Guernsey in 1977. The three original committee members were Stan Green, David Eaton and Barry Bridel, who raised funds to get the station fully functioning and running smoothly by 1978 for the official opening, which happened to coincide with the Queen’s visit to the island.
The first home of Jubilee Radio was situated across two bedroom in the Nurses’ Quarters and, before long, we were granted the use of a third room which soon became an office. Due to our expansion and archiving of records, we were later relocated to the basement area of the Nurses’ Quarters where we had more production room and the space to install a second recording studio.
Thanks to generous donations from the public over the years, we have built an extensive record library consisting in excess of 30,000 discs and vinyls. We continue to host a successful Request Programme every Wednesday evening (use the link above to check out the crew and send us your request) and we broadcast live every evening from 7pm - 9:30pm - but it doesn’t stop there! We have a specially designed computer programme to broadcast through the night, direct to your bedside until 6am.
So there’s a little bit about us really! Please feel free to roam the site (there’s no charge) or you can Contact Us via this link if you would like any further information. We’d love to hear from you and hear what you have to say about our new website too... so what are you waiting for...!
